Getting recognized!

Update on what is going on in my career adventures! I now have a business card ready to be handed out to potential clients and for networking possibilities. My amazing professor, Bev, has given my name to a CEO of a large company in Jackson that, not only has networking opportunities, but is extremely excited in the possibilities of social media in taking businesses into the 21st century! I was given the name of a contact within that company where I might be able to even get payed for whatever service they would like me to provide. Weather it be a website, linkedin, facebook, twitter, or even a blog.

Short post this time, but if you want to know anything in addition to what I write on any of my posts, feel free to comment, and I will address it in the next one.

Hello Everyone!

You want to know what it is like being a college senior? Trying to enter the professional world in this economy? Or what it is like to be in advertising and wanting to be a social media manager? You are at the right place. You will get a bit of everything here. I will do my best to post every week, most likely on Fridays, but we shall see as this progresses. Sometimes this might be a commentary on a journal article I read recently which will pertain to my major, what I am doing in my field to gain experience, or just ranting (but that will be at an absolute minimum, most of that will be on my twitter which you can also follow). The more professional things might be turned into a blog of themselves later on.

So a bit about me. I am 19, and am going to be graduating Spring Arbor University in May of this year with a major in Advertising and Public relations, a major in Communications Media, and a minor in Drama. I really had no idea what I exactly wanted to do with those combinations, until a few weeks ago when putting together a social media campaign for a client, and realizing I loved doing that kind of work. As soon as I discovered that, I began talking to professors, and got one to help me get my name out through word of mouth and business cards. Hopefully I will have my first client soon and I might even get paid for it! Crazy to think about, but this is the real world and not school. You get to work hard on a project, provide quality work, and they pay you for it!

Wel I will end this here as some things need to be done today so I can enjoy my fall break.
